CHAPTER I - Minor Disturbances

Meadow grinned. "Good job, Yuuta. You're so pretty." The Rufflet made a happy sound and frisked over to the Sewaddle to help him up. Gwen seemed a little surprised by Sophi's sudden enthusiasm but let her use her wing as a pillow for the time being. Meadow watched them and smiled. Fiera flew down and landed next to her trainer, nudging her shoulder. "Oh right, you're hungry!" Meadow grabbed into her bag and threw the Skarmory a cookie. It catched it happily. Meadow turned around again and narrowed her eyes. "Guys.. is that Tyler over there?" She pointed towards the end of the street.

Tom looked at the way Meadow was looking "yeah, it looks a bit like him..he look tired...what did those houndours did to him" he wondered.
Vivi looked at Yuuta and swore to get his revenge, in a friendly tone.
Sophie suddenly started to hug Gwen, as if she's having a good dream.
"I'll go to him" Tom said and ran torwards Tyler, waving his left arm to him "hey!" he called him.

Tyler, looking pretty beaten up. Was being escorted in the group's direction by two police officers. It was then that he saw his friends and waved to them but the for some reason flinched. ''Hey guys!'' The police said something to him and then let him go. As he walked up to the threesome it became visible that he had a bandage on his right arm. He came face to face with tom first. ''Hey, worry about me? Hehe I have QUITE the story to tell.'' Tyler looked behind him and waved with his good arm to the police ''Thanks officers.'' Tyler, focusing his gaze back on the group said dejectedly ''well it looks like you guys escaped unscathed.'' He pointed to his arm ''THIS hurts like hell!'' then he let out a sigh of relief ''I'm glad ye are safe though''

Seth stood and looked at the bruised man who just had appeared in the distance. He recognized him as the trainer who had fled away in the forest.
"I believe we haven't met." He then said and stretched out his right arm. "Oh..." He murmured and saw the bandage and didn't let him give the trouble of shaking it.
"I'm glad you're okay, I'm Seth by the way."

Tyler laughed as the trainer awkwardly took back his gesture. ''It's a bite mark and a slight burn from my new 'friend','' He said sarcastically. Lightening up his tone he introduced himself. ''I'm Tyler, I would introduce you to my pokemon but they are somewhat injured and the fourth is... well a demon.'' Looking at the others he exclaimed ''Which reminds me guys, I caught a houndour. It seemed to be the only way to subdue the creature. So yes I will need to go to the pokemon center now guys''

"you....you realize he'll be eally tough to train right?" Tom asked Tyler "anyway we'll talk about this later! as for now we need to get you to the pokemon center!" he said and walked behind Tyler and pushed him a bit torwards the pokemon center "you gotta be more careful!" Tom told him on their way.

Meadow let the boys do the talking, she wasn't much of a consoler. She just said Hello and then, when he told his story, she nodded to show respect. Then they were already inside the center. While she waited she broke a cookie in several pieces and let Fiera catch them. The Skarmory didn't miss a single one, no matter how tricky Meadow tried to throw. "You have a Keen Eye after all", she said and gave her Pokemon a friendly slap on the neck. She decided that once the two would come out of the Center again, she would ask Tyler if he was invited to the hearing as well.

As he had just finished telling his story on how he got his battle scars and how the police had arrived to bandage him up he heard his name being called from behind him. ''Tyler Sharp your pokemon are ready to collect.'' Before Walking to the desk he admired the huge metal bird and talked to Meadow for the first time since the forest. ''So how did you tame Fiera? A skarmory sounds like just as much work as this houndour.'' Hearing his name again he walked up to the desk and got his pokemon from the Nurse Joy. Tyler stayed there for a while talking to her. As he walked back to the group a wide grin stretched across his face ''Hey guys I know her sister! The nurse Joy from Cinnibar, my home town. That clutz is always dropping peoples pokeba..'' he trailed off as he remembered something he needed to tell the others ''Oh yes I need to attend some hearing thingy about the thing in the forest. Did you guys hear anything about that? Are we in trouble?''

"I didn't tame her, it's more a case of...", Meadow paused and stared into thin air for a few seconds. "...It's a long story. Maybe I'll tell you some time. But yes, it wasn't always easy, right, girl?" The Skarmory made a high-pitched sound and waited for some more cookies. When there were none coming, she took off again, circling the sky above the city. Meadow sighed and devoted her whole attention to the other trainers. "And yes, we have been 'invited' to the hearing as well. I'm not sure if we're in trouble though - maybe they just want to know about any unusual behaviour, or if we've seen where the Pokemon came from. At least I hope so."

"I hope it's just standard procedure. I don't think we're in trouble" Seth answered. Tricky was now wide awake and had started to chase Sophi around for fun.
As the four trainers stood there Seth thought this was the moment for him to show them the egg. He crouched down and sat on his knee while taking off his backpack. "Here, this is what I wanted to show you." He then opened the bag and revealed the top of the egg. Vela looked around inspecting their reactions.
"I found this washed up on a shore while traveling through Kanto on the way here. I think it's a water pokemon of some sort." The little shape in the egg was silently waving around in the transparent fluid. We decided to take it and take care of it, I kind of have a soft spot for breeding. He then took the egg up, and held it carefully to his chest. "I think it might be a Shuckle, it looks like one at least." He then turned to the trainers and asked. "Do you want to hold it?"

Meadow instantly stepped closer and leaned forward, eyes shining. She carefully took the egg from Seth and held it against the light. "It's beautiful", she said in honesty and lowered the egg to her chest. Then she slowly ran her hand over the eggshell. "I've had Gwen ever since she was an egg. It's one of the best ways to form an everlasting bond with a Pokemon." Meadow smiled and cautiously handed Seth the egg back, but didn't take her eyes off it. Gwen looked at her trainer when her name was mentioned and took it as an opportunity to sit down on her favourite spot - Meadow's head - again.

Tom looked at the egg ~oh no..~ he thought to himself and looked at Sophie, she looked at the egg casually but Tom could feel her sadness building up inside her.
"S-so...do you know what pokemon will hatch? where did you find or got that egg?" Tom asked Seth as he looked at the egg and then at Seth himself.
Vivi was looking at Gwen when suddenly Lennel appeared behind him, laughing about how he got scared, Vivi started chasing her, but the 2 didnt cause any problem as they just chased each other around the trainers.

Tyler looked at the egg. ''Ah right my Eevee has known me since he was an egg. I agree with Meadow. He thinks of me like a parent and I know everything about him.'' He examined the egg further and said ''did you know that having certain fire pokemon with you helps with hatching eggs? I picked that breeding protip from the Kanto pokemon day care. I look forward to seeing what hatches from it.'' Tyler went on ''Breeding eh? I dont know too much about it myself... only that there is a science based on genetically altering pokemon to have certain moves... sounds cool if you ask me.''

"Yeah it fascinates me." Seth answered Tyler. Vela now sat down, still tired from the adventure in the woods. "You don't happen to have such a fire type pokemon Tyler?" As Vela heard him say that she gave a small howl and looked at him. "Alright, I know, I gotta give it time." Seth said and looked into her eyes. She purred and bonked her head against his. "I'm just so excited."

Meadow laughed. She seemed to do that a lot recently. "I can understand that. I was a child when I got Gwen's egg. You should've seen me. Well, maybe you shouldn't." Gwen seemed to enjoy being a hat. Suddenly she chirped and flapped her wings, making her trainer even more ridiculous. "I guess she's bored. We could do something. Go shopping or visit the underground tunnel.", said Meadow and stretched.

''Nah man,'' Tyler answered Seth. Then he looked at Vela. ''Whats the matter, if anything, a little heat is good for it.'' Tyler then, thinking about what Meadow had said turned to her and said ''I'd like to go and see Goldenrod's famous haircut brothers.... But first I'd like to stock up on items. All I have in my bag is my lucky charcoal and....'' He trailed off and diverted the subject ''Hehe YEAH lets get items guys?'' Tyler winced as he knew he sounded suspicious.

Tom turned his look to Tyler "we already got our items" he said and look at Seth and Meadow for approval but he didnt notice if they approve or not and kept saying "I wanna go to the radio tower, oh and to the casino, and to the gym!" he said "I need to talk with the gym leader!" he said and looked at the 3 trainers "what did you guys plan?".

Seth packed carefully the egg into his back and stood up. "Yeah, lots of options. I think we first should check with the gym leader, that gym leader should really have cut in when the pokemon rampaged through here." He then felt the fact that he was the oldest of them all, something he didn't usually feel. "We can do the fun stuff later, we need to clear things up to her." He then took forth Trickys great ball and called him in. "I don't want you to get lost again." He said to the ball, he then turned to the others "is it okay with you?" He asked and smiled.

"I already talked to her. Before the incident, of course", Meadow said with a sour smile. "But if we have to go, I guess we have to go." She sighed and called for Yuuta and called him back. Gwen was still sitting on her head. "Well then, let's get this over with."

''Sure lets go guys!'' Tyler said, relieved that the group had not picked up on his suspicious behavior. ''Who knows? some of us might get a gym badge.'' Tyler said lightheartedly, although he knew this visit would be about more than just a battle ''I have heard that her miltank's rollout is a force to be reckoned with.. She could have stopped all of those houndour on her own! What was she too busy getting her nails done to help her town?'' He saw the look on Meadow's face. ''Meadow... from the look on your face she wasn't really the type of person you'd expect from a gym leader .... was she? I have no objections, I can stock up later. This is much more important. Lets go.'' Tyler started walking with the rest of the group towards the gym.

Tom got up "ok, let's go" Hey said "the gym should be close to the north entrace, so it will be easy to spot" He said and called his pokemons and started walking after the 3 trainers.
~I agree she had to do something about the attack, but...I would guess even a gym leader cant do it all by himself, and of course with the gym leader getting beaten down, nobody would dare stop the attack, unless they're very confident about their pokemon and skills~ Tom thought as he kept walking.

Vela was walking around spectating the scenery of the town. It was still scarred from the rampage, not one person was walking around like it was a normal day yet. Vela thought of the new friends she had gotten. The people were really friendly, but she liked the pokemon as well, except maybe that ghost that was flying around. She also hadn't gotten in contact with Tom's Ralts, it seemed afraid of her.
Seth was walking quite slowly and he was looking at Vela who strolled around the streets. He then turned to Tyler, "Hey Tyler. You mostly have fire pokemon right?" He said. "I admire fire pokemon, from the outside they seem ferocious but I think most of them are misunderstood. My friend had a Camerupt and it was beautiful." Vela then turned to Seth as she had heard what he was talking about, surprised by his accusations she snorted and walked away where she couldn't hear them talk.
"She didn't like him. He was always challenging her, which I think was great, she learned a few tricks from it." He said smiling.

Meadow walked in the back of the group, clearly grumpy. Gwen looked around gleefully, not being able to understand her trainer's problem.

The group arrived at the gym - but the door was closed. Someone knocked, but no one appeared. "Yeah, great. Yay. Can we leave?", Meadow said and it almost sounded like whining. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and looked around angrily. Suddenly, the door opened and Whitney stood there in all her glory. "Yes?", she said boredly and looked at the group members. "Why do you dist... oh, you again?" "Yes, me again", Meadow hissed and took a step forward. "Don't worry, I won't stay long. We just wanted to know why, you know, you didn't stop a pack of rampaging Pokemon DESTROYING THE CITY YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE GUARDING?" "I have my reasons", Whitney snapped back and threw her hair back. "Why, you...", Meadow growled and clenched her hands to fists. "I'd prefer to talk to some of the SENSIBLE people around here. Right, guys?" Pushing Meadow aside, Whitney build up herself in front of Tom, Tyler and Seth.

''I absolutely agree with meadow!'' Tyler said in a voice that's tone would be applicable to scolding a young child. ''By what I have heard your rollout technique could have knocked the Houndour down like bowling pins.'' Tyler's face grew more serious. ''Whitney... You can go to the Ilex forest and see the damaged foliage if you want.'' Tyler said, once again in that parent like tone. ''For starters, I think we would all like to know what your 'reasons' were, right Tom?'' Tyler looked to Tom his face had an unmistakable ''give her enough of it'' look.

"Ahem" Tom cleared his throat "as much as I would like to know, it's her decision whether to tell us or not, it's true we think she needed to do something about the attack but arent you forgetting something? even if her miltank could wipe some of them there was still a big pack, and you saw how tough the houndoom was, she had no way taken care of it herself!" Tom said "I am not saying she's right with her actions, but we cant judge her like that".
